Be a Top End Teacher

Teach in the Top End

Catholic Education has a network of schools in both urban centres and remote communities consisting of 18 Catholic schools - five colleges, seven primary schools, one flexible learning centre and five remote schools.

We transform young minds through leadership, foster a welcoming community, and provide opportunities for students, teachers, and families to flourish in.

Our schools offer a special spirit of belonging, creating connections where teachers have an opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of students through Catholic education.

Urban Schools

Our urban schools nurture enriching and collaborative learning environments for both students and teachers, that addresses the diverse needs of the student population. Located in Darwin, Palmerston, Humpty Doo, Katherine and Alice Springs, their multicultural student bodies reflect the region’s rich diversity, creating an inclusive and vibrant community.

Catholic values and teachings are integrated with the core curriculum, specialist subjects and wellbeing and personal development programs give students a well-rounded education. Educators often work collaboratively across multiple disciplinary’s to deliver personalised lessons that are high impact and effectively prepare students for their future.

Remote Schools

More than 893 students are enrolled in our five Aboriginal Catholic Community Schools (ACCS) and three homeland centres in remote communities of Santa Teresa, Wadeye, Naiuyu and Wurrumiyanga.

Local Indigenous knowledge, languages, and cultural practices are incorporated alongside the Australian curriculum to engage students, and respect the cultural heritage of the local community. Flexible and hands-on learning methods like project-based or place-based education, allows our students to connect their learning with the land and community.

These schools operate under a two-way curriculum to strengthen professional growth of our teachers and deepen their knowledge and understanding of our First Nations people. All our remote schools engage Assistant Teachers and other community members such as local elders in all aspects of teaching, learning, assessing and reporting, enriching the learning experience.

Escape the hustle culture of the city

The Northern Territory is where people reshape their lifestyle, reclaim their work life balance, grow their careers, and make a real impact. It’s a lifestyle that prides itself on having relaxed pace, short commutes, stunning landscapes, rich culture and a welcoming, inclusive community.

Teaching and living in the urban and rural centres Darwin, Palmerston, Katherine and Alice Springs – offers all the comforts of modern Australian living, without the usual hustle and bustle of city life.

Darwin is a lively, cosmopolitan and multicultural city with a thriving tourism industry and enriching arts and culture experiences.

Katherine and Alice Springs are famous for their natural surroundings. It is home to the natural wonders of Macdonald Ranges, Uluru (Ayres Rock) and Katherine Gorge.

Remote Aboriginal communities such as Santa Teresa, Wadeye, Naiuyu and Wurrumiyanga are quite different from each other in many respects. Commonly, they value collaboration, respect, and a deep connection to the land which is reflected in the rich outdoor lifestyle, local sports, arts, and of course community gatherings.

No matter the location, the Territory offers a unique space to connect—with the land, the community, and yourself.
